Foster Home Application

About Us

Weim Friends Rescue is an all volunteer 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization based in Cincinnati, Ohio. We rescue, rehabilitate and re-home abandoned Weimaraners. We look forward to speaking with you about fostering one of our rescued Weimaraners!

About the Weims

We are often asked why purebred Weimaraners need rescuing.  Many of the Weims that come into foster care have been surrendered by their owner who is no longer able to care for the dog whether it is due to financial or personal circumstances. Some are relinquished to a shelter or picked up as strays and the owner does not reclaim the dog. Few come from abusive situations where the dog may need special care prior to adoption. All of the Weims have big hearts and are hoping to find a permanent home that will love them through their senior years.  All of our Weims live with a foster home who become the experts on what family will be the best match for their foster Weim. We do not have a shelter facility.

Are you ready to Foster a Weim?

If you currently own a Weim or have owned a Weim in the past, then you know that they are eager to please, have lots of energy and make themselves a part of the family. If you have never owned a Weimaraner then we encourage you to read the article “Living with a Weimaraner” to be certain that you are prepared to foster this breed. Our Foster Home Process

After we receive your completed Foster Home Application and your references have been checked you will be contacted for a phone interview by one of our Coordinators. Another volunteer will contact you to set up a mutually agreeable time to conduct your home visit.  We ask that all family members be present for the home visit. Weim Friends Rescue reserves the right to deny any application.

Once you have completed the Foster Home process and have been approved, a Coordinator will review the Foster Home Handbook with you & help you decide what foster Weim would fit with your family. It usually is best to have the foster Weim & any current dogs meet at a neutral site to ensure all parties will get along. Our goal is to make things easier on the foster Weim and the foster home so that the Weim can adjust as quickly as possible in its new surroundings.

We look forward to receiving your completed application and speaking with you soon. Thank you for your interest in fostering a Weimaraner!
